Thoracic and Lumbar Rhizotomy Procedures
A Lumbar Rhizotomy is a non-surgical procedure to denervate the nerves which supply the facet joints. This procedure can reduce and possibly eliminate chronic back pain and muscle spasms. By disabling the sensory nerve at the facet joint, a rhizotomy may provide some patients with continuous relief from lower back pain.
A Thoracic Facet Rhizotomy is a non-surgical procedure that provides relief by blocking the pain signals sent from the nerve joints to the brain. This procedure is reserved for those who have already
undergone injections, and the exact source of the pain has been identified.
Thoracic & Lumbar Cervical Facet Injections
Facet joints are pairs of small joints between the vertebrae in the back of the spine. These joints have opposing surfaces of cartilage, which limits friction between the bones. When these joints become inflamed, the patient may experience pain.
Facet Joint Injections are used to decrease that pain and reduce inflammation in the facet joints by injecting a steroid into the joint. As with many spinal injection procedures, facet joint injections work better for some patients than for others. Often, a facet joint injection is combined with physical therapy to rehabilitate the back. A patient may undergo up to 4 injections/year.
Kyphoplasty Procedure
Kyphoplasty, also known as Vertebral Augmentation, is a minimally invasive outpatient procedure used to treat vertebral compression fractures. Patients exhibiting sudden onset of back pain, back pain that worsens while standing or walking, limited spinal mobility, height loss, deformity and/or disability may be candidates for this procedure.
Kyphoplasty relieves pain, increases mobility and improves the quality of life without open surgery. For many patients, vertebral augmentation results in enhanced procedural efficiency and is covered by Medicare and most private insurers.
Trigger Point Injections
Trigger Point Injections are used to treat painful “knots” that often develop in muscles. They form when a muscle is unable to relax. Trigger Point Injections can soothe muscle pain, especially in the arms, legs, upper and lower back and neck. Trigger Point Injections may be administered on an as needed basis.
Epidural Steroid Injections
An Epidural Steroid Injection (ESIs) is a method used to treat inflammation or pressure on the nerve roots leading out of the spine, causing pain, tingling, or numbness along those nerves. This Corticosteroid injection may reduce inflammation, enabling patients to return to normal daily activities.
Physical Therapy
We offer comprehensive Physical Therapy programs designed to provide patients with a goal-orientated treatment plan to prepare those injured on the job, experiencing pain from posture or stress-related conditions with methods that enable them to resume their daily lives.
